وقال ترامب -في تصريحات صحفية على متن الطائرة الرئاسية- إن لقاءه مع الشرع في السعودية كان “رائعا”.
وأضتف أن الشرع “شاب جذاب وقوي ومقاتل لديه ماضٍ قوي جدا”، متابعا “لديه فرصة حقيقية للحفاظ على تماسك سوريا”.
وأوضح الرئيس الأمريكي أنه تحدث كذلك مع الرئيس التركي رجب طيب أردوغان، الذي قال إنه “يتعامل بود” مع الشرع، حيث يشعر أن لديه “فرصة للقيام بعمل جيد” من أجل سوريا.
وصباح الأربعاء، اجتمع ترامب مع الشرع في الرياض، في لقاء هو الأول بين الزعيمين.
وفي تصريحات له خلال “منتدى الاستثمار السعودي–الأمريكي 2025” في الرياض، الثلاثاء، أعلن ترامب أنه سيأمر برفع العقوبات الأمريكية عن سوريا بهدف منحها فرصة “للنمو والتطور”.
وأضاف أنه اتخذ هذا القرار بعد مناقشته مع كل من ولي العهد السعودي الأمير محمد بن سلمان والرئيس أردوغان.
